I love relationships. It is the aspect of being a family photographer I enjoy the most and to tell the story of sibling bonds when a new baby arrives to a family who has a child just out of toddlerhood, well, you can find the sweet moments of a child growing up right before your eyes.
"We are a family."
Little Miss M stated as we sat on the couch during the reveal consultation of her mama's maternity session. She pulled her mommy and daddy close and stated it again.
"We are a family."
Her mom and I got to chatting about how you transition little kids for their new sibling coming. It can be a touch and go process and I shared the story of when my middle child arrived on the scene. His older brother just went with the flow and then six months into it was like he woke up and realized he wasn't a only child any more and that little bundle that really didn't effect his world much was able to laugh with him...or even worse get into all his stuff.
"Oh, she's a mama's girl. So it will probably hit right away!" Was her mom's response.
From there I knew that her growth into being a big sister would be a very essential part the story of their newborn lifestyle session. Not just as she interacted with her new brother, but in how she acted in the in between moments when the attention wasn't on her.
For that I'll let the pictures themselves tell the story. But that is the greatest part of being a lifestyle photographer for families. I get to know my families what love, what concerns them, what makes them laugh and I use those details to give them a unique experience of inviting someone into their home and capturing the REAL and AUTHENTIC moments. So when they look at their canvases or memory books they are brought back to the feelings love and of watching their children grow up.
